Our mission is to empower women with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to protect themselves from violent attacks. We teach women to replace panic and fear with effective, easy to learn, self-defense techniques.
Our classes show women how to be aware of their surroundings, as well as teach self-defense techniques that are easy to remember when under stress.
As women, we need to take advantage of our strengths when we fight. We will not succeed if we try to fight a man like a man. If you punch a male (predator) in the face, he’s going to punch you back (only much harder). We need to use our greatest weapons against his weakest targets.
The 7 Second Defense program teaches women to utilize their greatest physical strengths while minimizing the strengths of a man. These techniques utilize gross motor skills. When your heart rate increases, which happens when you are afraid, these skills thrive.
This is not a martial arts program. Most martial arts focus primarily on competition and the art or traditional aspects of their respective systems. Martial arts techniques are for sport and teach “safe” techniques. Eye gouging, kicking with shoes, hair pulling, kicking below the belt, head butts and many other moves are banned. 7 Second Defense is a reality-based self-defense system that has absolutely no sport or "traditional" aspects whatsoever. In a criminal attack, we generally begin with the outlawed list of techniques and go from there.
We teach women a “Warrior Mind-Set” – doing whatever it takes to survive an attack. The program incorporates training methods to build women’s fighting spirit and train them how to respond both mentally and physically in a time of need, eliminating the danger of “freezing” or “shutting down” in confrontations.
Participants learn to defend themselves against common threats like: chokes, grabs, bear hugs, and other attacks, including fighting on the ground and when confronted by a weapon. We emphasize realistic scenarios and realistic defenses.
